It has often been said that Martin Luther stated, that if he knew the end of the world was tomorrow, he would still plant an apple tree today.  Luther scholars deny that he ever made such a statement but it introduces a question for thought and conversation.  What would you do today if you knew the Lord was coming tomorrow?   The idea that death is not a cessation of life is a shock to some people but since we are eternal beings, it is true.  If you died today, you’d be doing something tomorrow.  We will all live somewhere forever and we get to choose!  If you are a believer and you don’t leave this life by death, there is only one other option—the Lord’s return.  There will be some people who never “taste” death.  Jesus Christ took death once and for all so that those who die will live.  And, when He returns for His own, some will pass death and go straight into life.  The heavenly city will eventually return to earth and Heaven and earth will be one.  We will dwell in a city not made by human hands.  We will have “a place” prepared by Jesus for us.  The earth will be restored to pre-fall conditions and in glorified bodies we will rule and reign forever with Him!  Brothers and sisters, this is our future.  “Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
