Study Notes

An Illustration for Spring

When trees are budding, summer is near. Accordingly, the signs of His coming that Jesus described in verses 21-26 mean His coming is near. That may be near or far…we should be ready.

An Illustration from the Old Testament

The indifference to the Word of God that was present in Noah’s day mirrors the mindset of the last days. People will not be paying attention to God or His ways. Though without excuse, they will be surprised…we should get ready.

An Illustration from Daily Life

It is hard to tell from the outside whether a person’s heart is right with God or not. There is a day coming when all doubt will be removed. A separation/division is coming that will mean joy for some and sadness for others…we should get ready.

An Illustration About Burglars

Jesus is not a thief and He is not coming to steal your stuff. However, His coming is not going to be announced…we should get ready.

An Illustration from Management

In some respects, we are like managers that have been left with resources to care for others. The Master is returning to see how we have done. Have we used HIS resources properly or squandered them. We should be ready to give an account.

Conclusion

Are you ready to meet the King? You will meet Him through the door of death or at His coming. We have this life to decide. It is appointed unto man to die once and after that the judgment. Are you ready?

Being ready is not by chance, it is a way of life.
