Review
- The church was about 20 years old.
- The first missionary journey was complete.
- Paul and Barnabas had reported “all that God had done.”
- False teaching was having an impact in Galatia.
Introduction
- Author: Paul wrote to defend his apostleship because it affected the message entrusted to him to proclaim.
- Theme:
- Grace: God’s unmerited favor and purposeful love.
- Peace: “To mend” or “Put back together.”
- Redemption: Jesus went past all the symptoms to the source of the problem: SIN.
- Glory: While God’s redemptive plan brings good to us, it is also for His glory!
The Problem
- Another which is not another...
The false teachers were promoting a “gospel” that was not good news at all. It was actually the opposite of grace.
- Imprecation:
This perversion of the gospel was so bad that Paul prayed an “imprecatory prayer” over those who added to the gospel.
Conclusion
In His grace, God has not only provided a “life” to come, He has provided a “life” right now. In His grace, He will deliver us from this present evil age and from hell.
