  1. Flee Idolatry
"If anything becomes more fundamental than God to your happiness, meaning in life and identity, then it is an idol." ~ Tim Keller, Counterfeit Gods
  2. Remember Who You Have...
    • One of the ways we can overcome the temptations of idolatry is to remember who we are, Who we have and Who is present. There is a real and actual partnership/communion that takes place in the reception of the bread and the cup.
    • This reminder had specific application for the Corinthians who were participating in feasts to idols. Idols are nothing but there are beings behind the idolatry — and they are dangerous!
    • "Communion" with Christ and "communion" with demons is incompatible. The two are mutually exclusive. This first century warning applies 1900 years later; we may not be concerned about food offered to idols BUT, we should beware of idolatry.
    • "Worship is the final way to replace the idols of your heart." ~ Tim Keller
