Sunday, September 28 you will have the privilege of hearing from Dr. Bobby Gupta. Here is some information to help you prepare… Dr. Gupta is the President of the Hindustan Bible Institute. “HBI India has been a Mission ONE partner since 1992. HBI India’s ministry includes evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and leadership training. Their ministry activities include gospel teams, Bible studies, all night prayer meetings, praying for sick people, open air evangelism, prison ministry, medical camps, hospital visitation, house visitation, youth fellowship, home meetings, literature distribution, fasting, working among women, children and students. HBI is led by Dr. Paul R. (Bobby) and Linnet Gupta. Since 1952, HBI has been training Indian nationals for Christian ministry. In recent years, under the leadership of Bobby Gupta, HBI’s vision for reaching India with the gospel and training workers has been refined. Their mission purpose is “to equip and empower evangelists, church planters, rural pastors and cross cultural missionaries through non-formal training programs, enabling them to disciple the unreached and plant churches where no church exists.” Dr. Gupta is the featured speaker at Cornerstone University for their Global Opportunities Week.

I work at home on Thursdays and Diane goes to the church to work on the media presentation for Sunday. She called not long after she arrived to inform me that there were geese hanging around the church. I like geese, especially smoked. Of course before they can be smoked they have to be “harvested.” (As if they were vegetables—I’m trying to be kind on a church blog). Fortunately for the geese, the season is not open this week or I may have taken a drive over there to “pick one or two.” Diane doesn’t care for geese—smoked or otherwise. So why did she call me? Because she cares about what I care about. It has been true for over 33 years now and I am a blessed man! According to Ephesians 5, marriage is a picture of Christ and the church. He is the Groom and we are His bride. If we take this symbol all the way back to the beginning in Genesis we’ll remember that Eve was made for Adam to be a “helper suitable” to him. In other words, she was like him to be with him so that they could care for things together. Adam cared about Eve and Eve cared about Adam. Jesus cares for the church, He nourishes and cherishes us as His bride. The question remains for us, do we care about what He cares about? In our text this week in Matthew 15 we are reminded AGAIN that Jesus has compassion for the multitudes. As His bride do we care about what He cares about? The multitude is big and we may feel inadequate but our inadequacy is never inadequate when He is present. Our part is to simply bring what we have to Jesus, give it to Him, and do what He says. He is powerful to do what we are unable to perform. Do we trust Him? Do we care about what He cares about? Will we give Him what we have?
