We all have people that we wonder about.  “Is he saved or not?”  The world mocks such a question.  I’ve seen it several times on TV shows recently.  Usually the person asking, “Are you saved?” is a self-righteous hypocrite and their question comes across superfluous.  Our culture is no friend to grace and frankly, Christendom has provided plenty of illustrations for their parodies.  The truth is, every person is either saved or not.  We are all “lost or found.”  We are all either born again or dead in sins.  That seems simple but it is not.  There are people who have appeared to be followers of Jesus who simply walk away.  There are people who appear to be aloof who are actually true friends of God.  There are people who lived a pagan life for years who repent and believe and there are people that remain in limbo.  They have a “testimony” but no life.  Ugh.  What are we to say to this?  How do we figure out if someone is actually saved or not?  Maybe it’s not our job.  Maybe our principal concern should be about our own souls.  Am I born again?  Do I know the Lord?  Am I living an interactive Kingdom life with God?  It only requires one yes to be right with God but if we are right with God there will be a lot more affirmations of faith along the way.  I am afraid there are people at Calvary that have made a profession without true confession.  It’s a lot easier to make a profession of faith than it is to actually live in agreement with God on a daily basis—a true confession.  We’ll be studying “Simon and his magic kingdom” on Sunday.  These questions we ask now were in the air a long time ago.  I love Paul’s words to Timothy, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”  In other words, ultimately, we should leave the question of who is in and who is out to God—He knows.  But each of us should flee wickedness and pursue righteousness and the Kingdom of God.
